שֵׁם פֹּעַל — the infinitiveשֵׁם פֹּעַל — l'infinitif

Practise this lessonTravailler ce cours

The infinitive is the spine of the whole batch: what calls for it (רוֹצֶה, יָכוֹל, אוֹהֵב, יוֹדֵעַ), the two ways it is built (פִּעֵל in לְ_ַ_ֵ_, ל"ה in ־וֹת), and the spelling trap that comes with it. Plus one verb that only exists in the present, יָכוֹל, and a long run of real sentences to hear the pattern in.L'infinitif est la colonne vertébrale de tout le lot : ce qui l'appelle (רוֹצֶה, יָכוֹל, אוֹהֵב, יוֹדֵעַ), les deux façons de le construire (פִּעֵל en לְ_ַ_ֵ_, ל"ה en ־וֹת), et le piège d'orthographe qui va avec. Plus un verbe qui n'existe qu'au présent, יָכוֹל, et une longue série de vraies phrases pour entendre le schéma.

DialogueDialogueחַם מְאוֹד הַיּוֹם — going to the seaחַם מְאוֹד הַיּוֹם — aller à la mer
